YSGOL ABERCONWY
HLTA
Salary Range: G05 : £22,735 - £25,623
This is a permanent position of 37 hours per week, term time plus 5 days.
Closing date for applications: Friday June 21st 2024
Start Date: September 2024.
At Aberconwy we have an outstanding provision (Pontio) for supporting pupils with autism to access mainstream education. Our provision is based in our inclusion centre and incorporates resources that help learners with regulation in order to support them to navigate the mainstream environment successfully. Pontio has its own registration group for learners that find the start of the day and the transition to school particularly challenging, it offers a drop-in facility for identified learners aiming to support them to return to lessons as quickly as possible. Some pupils that attend Pontio may have scheduled decompression sessions and may have toolbox sessions during the school day to support them in developing specific skills. Pontio runs its own break and lunch club, offering pupils a safe and familiar place at those unstructured times where learners may experience the greatest difficulties.
We therefore seek to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Teaching Assistant to provide support for identified learners within Pontio. They will work under the guidance of the inclusion centre coordinator to provide support for pupils with autism to be able to manage effectively in school.
In return, we offer you:
This is an exciting time to join Ysgol Aberconwy, a mixed 11-to-18 comprehensive school of over 900 pupils. Set in its own extensive campus on the banks of the beautiful River Conwy, the school is situated in the medieval town of Conwy on the North Wales coast adjacent to the Snowdonia National Park. As a PFI School, we are exceptionally well resourced and maintained, and we have developed a significant reputation locally for the quality of our pastoral care as well as our academic success. Numbers in the school will have risen by 30% over the last five years in September, and we have developed specialist resource centres to support children with dyslexia, autism and other learning needs.
