Description PURPOSE:

• Supporting the Welsh Government key aims and objectives for delivering the net-zero plan across education and training
  
  
• Explore and establish the provision and opportunities available across the education and training sector in order plan and prepare to meet current and future demand for green skills development
  
  
• Establish and maintain partnerships with key stakeholders across education and industry to enhance the opportunities, to deliver a joined up, innovative and sustainable solutions to delivering the Net Zero plan.
  
  
• To plan, manage and evaluate key findings and make suitable recommendations to meet the needs of education and industry.
  
  
• To contribute to initiatives across the Inspiring Skills project to ensure net-zero is actively embedded in to the varying provisions on offer

INTRODUCTION

The College manages, on behalf of the Welsh Government, the “Inspiring Skills Excellence in Wales” project in collaboration with the Skills Ambassador Network - a dedicated network of colleges, work-based learning providers and employer-led organisations.


As the contract holder, the college wishes to appoint a Net Zero / Green Skills Coordinator to support the projects ambitious aim of supporting the Welsh Government's Net Zero plan

The Net Zero / Green Skills Coordinator will be responsible for managing all aspects of the designated outcomes, which will provide a coordinated approach to Net Zero and Green skills for a range of stakeholders. It will be focused on reviewing the skills offer across the college network to work towards achieving net-zero emissions and promoting sustainable practices across Wales.

This role involves developing and implementing strategic plans, overseeing future developments, coordinating regional engagement plans, and ensuring the overall success of the project.

As Net Zero / Green Skills Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in leading and developing our initiatives focused on equipping learners, employers and other stakeholders with the necessary skills and knowledge for a sustainable and net carbon zero future.

The ability to inspire, motivate and influence others are key skills required for this role. Working across Wales in partnerships with education and training, the role will require the successful applicant to be a role model for others to follow, whilst maintaining the highest possible standards, working positively and professionally with honesty and transparency.

The post will involve extensive travel across Wales, requiring flexibility in working hours and will lead to working with a range of stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the lead coordinator for green skills / net-zero across the education and training sector in order to identify and review the provision of green and net zero training and development across the sector
  
  
• Explore longer term strategies working across all colleges to support policy development and future proofing training needs to meet future skills requirements
  
  
• Understand complex problems and align research findings to inform decision making and action
  
  
• To plan, manage and evaluate key findings and make suitable recommendations to meet the needs of education and industry and where required, actively identify funding opportunities, including grants, sponsorships, and partnerships, to support future operations and growth.
  
  
• Work with the projects management team to develop the strategic direction of the Inspiring Skills project towards meeting the Net Zero / Green Skills plan, ensuring alignment with the project's overall objectives;
  
  
• Support the Welsh Government and key stakeholders with the implementation and delivery of their net zero and sustainability goals;
  
  
• Establish and maintain partnerships with key stakeholders across education and industry to enhance the opportunities, to deliver a joined up, innovative and sustainable solutions to delivering the Net Zero plan.
  
  
• Take a lead role in establishing an infrastructure in Wales that captures and shares best practice across Net Zero and Green Skills
  
  
• Explore opportunities for innovative programs and courses that promote green skills development, sustainability, and environmental awareness
  
  
• Inspire the network across Wales to enhance their provision of sustainability education.
  
  
• Work with external agencies to support research in Net Zero / Green Skills across Wales
  
  
• Represent the Inspiring Skills project at events, and meetings, raising awareness and promoting the work of Net-Zero and Green Skills
  
  
• Take a lead role in steering groups, presenting at events, writing professional and creative pieces.
  
  
• Develop and manage the budget associated with this delivery, allocating resources effectively to support program development.
  
  
• Keep abreast of political, socio and economic developments in respect of Net Zero / Green Skills ensuring effective dissemination of data, plans and labour market intelligence to key stakeholders.
  
  
• Monitor UK and International wide developments, emerging policies, and strategies for Net Zero to inform the strategic direction for the education and training sector
  
  
• Organise and facilitate regional and national events that brings strategic stakeholders together to promote and disseminate a sector wide understanding of Net Zero / Green Skills
  
  
• Monitor the effectiveness of the program, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and quality assurance processes.

Skills Knowledge and ExpertiseEssential Criteria:

• Extensive experience in the field of further education
• Strong knowledge and understanding of the economy and skills
• Strong knowledge and understanding of sustainability and green skills
• Analysis of data or interpreting data
• Written skills/communication skills
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire a range of stakeholders.
• Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• A commitment to creating a greener future
• Commitment to an understanding of Further Education, Higher Education, 14-19 provisions and Work Based Learning

Desirable Criteria:

• Degree or Higher Degree

Welsh Language Requirements:

• Welsh Oracy (Listening/Speaking) - Level 0/1
• Welsh Literacy (Writing/Reading) - Level 0/1
